The New Audi A3 Is one of our best sellers here at Orangewheels, and rightly so with its combination of great build quality and good looks. The car has recently benefited from a mild facelift, with the stylish daytime running lights being added to the new headlights, and new bumpers and interior changes have been added, along with a new range of engines, all designed to keep the A3 looking fresh. Audi have always been the leaders when it comes to interiors, and it's no different with the new car, the quality and design of the fixtures and fittings shines through, knocking spots off anything else that competitors can offer, with soft touch plastics and brushed aluminium detailing throughout and as its the inside of a car where you spend the most time this pays off for the occupants, it's a great place to spend time. The traditionally firm ride is still present, although both handling and noise suppression have been improved. |

Audi A3 1.4 TFSI
The A3 1.4 may have the smallest engine in the range, but it is worth bearing in mind that it is the new TFSI supercharged engine, and is both more powerful and therefore faster, more fuel efficient, more refined, and more expensive that the current 1.6. The 1.6 litre is an older VW derived unit that is actually the cheapest model to buy, but if you can stretch to the 1.4 it's well worth it. The 1.4 has 125 bhp compared to the 1.6's 102, and it's from another planet when it comes to both noise and refinement, and gives 47 mpg compared to the 1.6's 42mpg. |

The A3 1.8 TFSI is a larger capacity version of the new 1.4 and shares the same character traits - smooth and refined with a steady torque curve to give a good bit of shove when needed, yet still returning a very respectable 42 mpg from its 160 bhp. a nice powerful midrange choice, but if you can stretch to the 2.0... |

Audi A3 2.0 TFSI
The A3 2.0 TFSI is a properly quick car. The 2.0 engine is taken from the Golf GTI with a mild rework and develops 200bhp - more than enough to send this little pocket rocket shooting off into the distance, whilst fuel economy doesn't suffer too much unless you really put your foot down, still averaging around 40mpg - great for a car of this performance. The all new A3 1.6 TDI diesel has just been introduced to replace the old 1.9 TDI, it gives the same 105 horsepower, is much more quiet and smooth than the engine it replaces and produces amazing returns for the fuel economy, averaging well over 60 miles per gallon and is the most economical engine available. |

Audi A3 2.0 TDI
The A3 2.0 TDI has the newer common rail diesel engine fitted, with a choice of either 140 bhp and 170 bhp. The 140 has plenty of go, with the 170 feeling particularly rapid. The cost of the extra go is a £930 premium, and it's worth a test drive in both to see which you prefer. Both are noticeably smoother and quieter than the older 1.9 TDI and well worth the extra money, whilst still returning a similar mpg figure in the early 50's. The higher 170 bhp is also available with Audi's famous Quattro drive system for a small premium, but this does add extra weight to the car and blunts fuel economy. |

Audi A3 SE
The SE is the mid range spec for the range (£600 more than the base model) and comes with the standard cars usual niceties - Air conditioning, electric windows, CD player, and the additional SE spec gives you a different set of alloys, multifunction steering wheel, front centre armrest and a driver information system with temperature, fuel consumption etc displayed. |

Audi A3 Sport
The Sport takes all the extras you get on the SE model, and puts the predictably sporty spin on it for a cost of £1200 above the SE, so there's the larger 17" alloys wheels and firmer sports suspension lowered by 15mm. On the interior there's silver Aluminium inlay around the dashboard, a sports steering wheel and body hugging sports seats. It also gives some more luxuries in the form of dual zone electronic climate control a rear sunblind and an Aux-in socket so you can plug your MP3 player into the stereo. |

Audi A3 S Line
The Audi A3 S Line is the top spec model, and costs a not inconsiderable £1550 over the Sport model. For your extra outlay you get the following: A lovely set of alloy wheels upped to 18" diameter over the sports 17", Even firmer S-Line suspension which is 10mm lower than the sport, and the S Line styling pack, which brings a deeper restyled front and rear bumper and chrome exhaust finishers. The interior gets half leather sports seats, S Line detailing everywhere and Matt Brushed Aluminium inlays. |

Audi S3
When you mention the Audi S3 you're talking about a pretty impressive piece of kit, and a serious price tag to match. the 3.2 litre V6 engine that is positively crammed under the bonnet kicks out a walloping 265 bhp via the Quattro 4 wheel drive system. Spec is pretty good too, with similar kit levels to the S Line, but made specifically for the S3, so it has its own bodykit, a different set of 18" Alloys, and Heated Nappa leather sports seats. The price is a little steep, but luxury hot hatches don't come any better than this. |
Audi A3 Sportback
The Sportback is the 5 door version of the A3, and features identical trim levels and engine variants to the standard 3 door. With the minimalist roof rails added, it looks more like a junior A4 estate than a 5 door hatch. The Sportback is slightly longer than the 3 door at 4.3 metres rather than 4.23, but does give rear passengers easier access, and that bit more leg and headroom. Boot space is also increased, while overall weight and handling differences are negligible. | |
Audi A3 Convertible
The Audi A3 Cabriolet, Cabrio, or Convertable, whichever you would like to call it, is newly released and features a very similar spec to the rest of the line up. The Convertible has a traditional folding soft top that rests pram like on the back of the car, rather than folding away under a metal flap like some convertibles, but this helps make the mechanism both quicker and simpler, and also saves weight. Audi has done well to keep the Cabriolet's proportions similar to the 3 door with the roof up, and either up or down, the car is a really good looker. The engine line up and trim levels are very similar to the rest of the range, and prices are competitive with other premium convertibles. Handling too is not compromised, with very little scuttle shake over bumps. |
