The New Audi Q5 has to be one of the best looking small off roaders available. In a market segment with a lot of competition, Audi has taken the looks and aggressive stance of the Q7 and moulded it into a more compact 4×4. Based on the VW Tiguan chassis, the Q5 is focused mainly as an on road vehicle, and as that is where 99.9% of owners will keep it this is a good thing. The car has the brand’s typical characteristics, both in its driving dynamics and the rest of the car: firm yet comfortable ride, crisp predictable sure footed handling, stylish yet conservative design and a stunning interior well beyond anything else at this price point. |

Audi Q5 2.0 TFSI
The Audi Q5 2.0 TFSI petrol is a small yet powerful 2.0 turbo engine, with a full 211 bhp, 350Nm of torque, and a rapid 0-60 time of 7.2 seconds, topping out at 135mph, performance figures more in line with a hot hatch than a compact four wheel drive. It’s a fun engine to use, willingly revving and giving serious go. Despite all this, Petrol off roaders have never been the most popular in the UK, so the 2.0 diesel is likely to be the biggest seller, mainly down to the petrol’s 33 mpg average fuel consumption figure. It is available in automatic form only. |

Audi Q5 2.0 TDI Diesel
The Audi Q5 2.0 TDI Diesel is the most popular engine in the range, with the motor already seen in the A3 and A4. The common rail diesel engine is good for 170 bhp, and has a good slug of mid range torque that produces a 0-60 time of just 9.5 seconds and a top speed of 126 mph, all while giving a very respectable combined figure of 42 mpg. The 2.0 diesel is currently available as a manual only. |

Audi Q5 3.0 TDI Diesel
The Audi Q5 3.0 TDI diesel is a properly fast car, has a substantial 240 bhp and a whopping 500 Nm of torque which translates to a good shove in the back when you need it and a 0-60 time of 6.5 seconds, all the time giving a combined fuel consumption of 37.6 mpg and a top speed of 139 mph, which is faster and more economical than the 2.0 TFSI Petrol version. The Q5 3.0 diesel engine really suits the car and is great fun to drive using the huge mid range pull, and is still quiet and refined for a diesel engine, but you pay a premium for the larger motor, and it’s available in Automatic only. |

The Audi Q5 is a premium offering, and comes with a sensible, if not overly generous list of spec as standard: 18” alloy wheels, 6.5” colour screen, CD with 10 speakers, leather seats, split folding rear seats, auto dimming mirror, automatic on headlights, rain sensing wipers, electronic park brake, fog lights, isofix seats, rear parking aid, climate control, multifunction leather steering wheels, aluminium trim, trip computer, electric windows, floor mats, front armrest, aluminium roof rails and a rear spoiler. |

Audi Q5 S Line
The Audi Q5 S Line is the sportiest trim level available, with larger 19” alloy wheels, firmer S Line sports suspension, brushed aluminium inlays, S Line sports leather steering wheel, rear LED lights, and the S Line styling pack, which gives you a deeper front bumper, rear bumper, side skirts and a different grille. You also get a set of Xenon lights with the LED running lights. |
