The new 2011 Citroen C1 is a joint venture between Citroen, Toyota and Peugeot with the car sharing the underpinnings with the Aygo and the 107., and all built in the same factory. This one is the cheapest of the three, so you are getting Toyota build quality for a much cheaper price. The new 1.0 litre petrol engine is also shared by the 107 and the Aygo – it isn’t the most powerful at 68 horsepower, and gives a 0-60 time of 13.7 seconds, and a top speed of 98 miles per hour, but more important is the fuel economy that comes in at a great 62.8 miles per gallon and CO2 figures at 106 g/km. Unlike the Aygo, Citroen also offers a 1.4 litre diesel engine, but it is only available in the top spec VTR+ 5 door, making it the most expensive in the range.
