Specification

The new 1.1 litre engine has 61 horsepower, giving a top speed of just under 100 miles per hour, with a 0-60 time of 15.9 seconds. Fuel economy and CO2 levels aren’t brilliant for a car with an engine this size with emissions at the 140 g/km level and fuel consumption at 47.1 mpg.

The 1.4 diesel is the smallest diesel engine in the C3 range, giving 70 horsepower and a top speed of 101 mph. 0-60 times drop to 13.7 seconds which is OK for commuting, and fuel economy is great at 65.7 mpg with a nice low CO2 level of 113 g/km.

The 1.4 litre petrol engine is up strongly over the 1.1 giving 95 horsepower, and improving the 0-60 time to a creditable 10.6 seconds, and top speed at a more motorway worthy 114 mph. Fuel economy actually beats the 1.1 litre engine too, at 48.7 mpg and CO2 levels are also lower than the 1.1 at 134 g/km.

The new 1.6 diesel is available in 2 power levels, either 90 or 110 horsepower, with the 90 giving a 0-60 time of 11.5 seconds and the 110 lowering that to 9.9 seconds. fuel economy is at the combined figure of 74.3 (90) and 64.2 mpg (110) respectively and CO2 emissions at either 99 or 115 g/km.

The 1.6 petrol engine is the most powerful in the range with 120 horsepower giving a 0 to 60 time of 8.9 seconds and a top speed of 118 miles per hour. It is a fun little engine that is enjoyable to rev, and fuel economy figures still don’t drop over the basic 1.1 litre with an average of 47.9 mpg on the combined run.

The 2011 Citroen C3 VT is the entry level specification available in the range.
