Engines

The new 1.2 petrol engine is the smallest engine available and also the cheapest and lowest price engine in the range. It has 90 horsepower, which gives a 0-60 time of 12.5 seconds, more than enough for commuting and round town, (if a little down on power for motorways) and returns 52 miles per gallon fuel economy. In a class that is very much price dependent, the 1.2 is a strong seller as the cheapest in the range.

The 1.4 petrol engine jumps to 100 horsepower, so not a huge step up over the 1.2, but it does feel a bit stronger and has a useful amount more mid range for the occasional overtake in a car this light. Fuel economy is practically identical to the 1.2 at 52.3 mpg, and CO2 jumps only very slightly from 125 to 128 g/km – still very good.

Specification

The Jazz has a rather extensive set of choices when picking which model you would like. The range starts with the entry level S which is the cheapest priced, which comes with: Airbags, anti lock brakes with emergency brake assist, isofix child seat mounts, engine immobiliser, electric front windows, electric heated door mirrors, keyless entry, height adjustable drivers seat, trip computer, 15” steel wheels, and a stereo CD player with Aux-In socket for your MP3 player.

Next we have the new Honda Jazz SE which adds manual air conditioning and 15” alloy wheels, then we have the Si which is based on the SE and also gets 16” Cronos alloys, chrome front grille, rear spoiler, and Si logos – effectively the sportier looking version.

Then there is the new Honda Jazz ES which is again based on the SE and on top of that spec it gets electric folding door mirrors, flexible two tier cargo boot, electric rear windows, body coloured mirrors and door handles, adjustable steering column, steering wheel mounted audio controls and a refrigerated glove box.

Finally we have the top spec new Honda Jazz EX which gets everything the aforementioned ES gets plus adds: 16” alloys, panoramic glass Sunroof, climate control, front fog lights, rain sensing wipers, automatic headlights, leather steering wheel, leather gear knob, privacy glass, and front and rear armrests.

To give you even further choice you can add a ‘-T’ to the initials of every model above except the Si, and choosing the -T adds Satellite navigation with traffic messages and a bluetooth mobile phone preparation with hands free system.
