New Jaguar X-Type Deals and Discount Prices
New Jaguar X-Type
The New Jaguar X-Type range was facelifted in 2008 with the introduction of the '2009 model year' cars, featuring restyled front and rear bumpers, and improvements to the interior - over 400 changes in all but the car still keeps its classic Jaguar style. This has helped the Xtype retain a committed customer base who shy away from the hard riding BMW 3 series and Audi A4, preferring instead the comfort, ageless styling and warm luxurious interior that is a million miles away from the cold clinical finishes of its German rivals. The X has been able to inherit some of the XJ's waftability, and can comfortably float over bumps that would have rivals thumping and jarring, yet is still competent in the corners, particularly in the Sport Premium trim, and some fantastic discounts and very generous spec levels compared to the competition help the car sell well. |

Jaguar X-Type 2.0 Diesel
The Jaguar X-Type 2.0 Diesel is the entry into the X-Type range. It comes in front wheel drive and manual transmission only, but is a solid performing engine, with 128bhp giving a 0-60 time of just over 9 seconds, and a top speed of 125 mph. What s more important is the manner in which it does this - this is an incredibly refined diesel engine - very little harshness or diesel rattle, and it propels the car along with gusto. Fuel consumption is dead on 50 mpg from the official figure, and daily use backs this up as a realistic average. The engine has an overboost facility which stores a bit of extra pressure from the turbo and releases it back in when you accelerate fully, temporarily boosting power up to 150 bhp, and the mid range torque is more than enough for most everyday driving. |
||
Jaguar X-Type 2.2 Diesel
The Jaguar X-Type 2.2 Diesel gives several benefits over the 2.0 - firstly it is now available with the all important automatic gearbox option, secondly, even in manual form the gearbox is upped from a 5 speed to a 6 speeder, meaning if you are planning on doing motorway miles, that extra 6th cog will give much improved cruising ability at around 80 mph, and help fuel economy figures no end. The X-Type 2.2 diesel has a useful increase in power up to 153 bhp (143 bhp for the auto) and torque is up from 331 Nm to 366 Nm, decreasing 0-60 time by a second to 8.5 s, and increasing the top speed to 143 mph, while the official miles per gallon figure drops only slightly to 47.1 mpg, so if you want a car for just round town go for the 2.0 diesel, if you need auto or do a fair bit of motorway mileage, the 2.2 is the car for you. |

Jaguar X-Type 3.0 V6
The Jaguar X-Type 3.0 V6 is the only petrol engine in the range. It is automatic only, Four wheel drive, and only available in the estate version, so is now a rare sight, which is a pity as the 3.0 V6 s a creamily smooth unit with 231 bhp that loves to be revved, and suits the car with its traditional big petrol engine refined power delivery. The 4 wheel drive system is great too, working in a similar manner to the Audi Quattro system and when really pushed the car settles in to a delightful 4 wheel drift, although this won't be the typical behaviour of the average Jaguar driver! The main downside to the 3.0 V6 is the fuel economy as the auto and the 4wd both have a negative effect, leaving it around the 24.5 mpg mark, well off the equivalent diesel. |

Jaguar X-Type S Specification
The Jaguar X-Type S Spec is very well equipped for an 'entry' model, and comes with 17" alloys, electric windows, CD player, multi function leather steering wheel, climate control, cruise control, half leather electrically adjustable sports seats, trip computer, front fog lights, Isofix child seats, split fold rear seats,rain sensing wipers, automatic headlights and piano black trim - putting many of its executive rivals to shame. The 'S' spec is available on 2.0 and 2.2 diesel models. |
||
Jaguar X-Type SE Specification
The Jaguar X-Type SE Spec takes everything you get on the S and adds: full leather 8 way adjustable electric comfort seats, DVD satellite navigation with a 7" touchscreen that controls nearly everything, heated seats, rosewood dashboard inlay, heated front windscreen, headlight powerwash, front and rear parking sensors, and sliding front armrest, making a very complete spec, and there is very little that needs adding to an SE, other than maybe your choice of metallic paint. SE spec is available on the 2.0 and 2.2 Diesel models. |
||
Jaguar X-Type Sovereign
The Jaguar X-Type Sovereign is the top of the range variant, and has a luxurious spec to match, and strips out the SE interior replacing it with full traditional Jaguar Walnut wood trim, and piped comfort 10 way electrically adjustable leather seats, the premium sound upgrade with 10 speakers and voice activation for most major controls. Metallic paint is also standard on the sovereign model. |
||
Jaguar X-Type Sport Premium
The Jaguar X-Type Sport Premium puts a sportier twist on the SE model, by adding larger 18" alloy wheels, lowered firmer sports suspension, a rear spoiler, body hugging leather electric sports seats with memory function, and a carbon fibre dashboard replaces the rosewood veneer. |

Jaguar X-Type Estate
The Jaguar X-Type Estate is one of the few estate cars that rather than look like a big ungainly box, actually looks even better than the saloon version, and is the only Estate the brand has ever officially made. Despite it being more a lifestyle estate rather than an outright load lugger, there is still a great deal of room in the boot with the rear seats folded, some 1415 cubic litres, and more than enough for most people, if not quite a capacious as something like a Volvo V70. It has a nice flat square loading area with no wheelarch intrusions, and the rear glass opens separately as a hatch to put shopping in - a very convenient touch. The estate weighs in at about 100 kgs more than the saloon, but you don't notice the extra weight in the performance or in the handling - you have to look behind you to remind yourself which you are driving as they feel identical from the drivers seat. |
