New Mercedes E Class
The New Mercedes E Class has just been launched to rave reviews about its styling, handling and ride quality in the national motoring press. The car takes everything good about the old model and transposes it into a stunning package that has improved in every way. The looks have moved towards a more angular solid style that harks back to the bulletproof cars of old, and the interior has a complete overhaul and includes all of the latest must have gadgets, and some new ones no one has seen before. Overall its a stunning car that takes the fight back to BMW with its ageing 5 series and the new challenge from the Jaguar XF. The E Class was originally launched as a 4 door saloon, but an E Class Coupe has been launched and the E Class estate is due shortly. |

Mercedes E200K
The Mercedes E200 CGI is the smallest of the petrol engines available in the new car. Despite the name the E200 is actually a 1.8 litre engine, tuned to produce 184 bhp, enough to give a 0-60 time of 8.4 seconds and take the car on to a top speed of 143 mph. Fuel economy is a decent 37.7 mpg, and CO2 emissions are around 177 g/km for the manual saloon car. There is a choice of a manual or a conventional automatic gearbox. To see all of our Mercedes E class for sale, just select your required model from the ones listed above. |
Mercedes E200 CDI
The E200 CDI is the lowest powered of the diesel options available to you, with 3 being based on the same engine. The C200 CDI diesel is actually a 2.2 litre turbo diesel engine with 136 horsepower. This is enough to propel the car from 0-60 in 9.7 seconds and on to 130 miles per hour flat out. These are more than respectable performance figures for a car of this size, for more power, just take a look at the E220 and E250 variants. This E200 CDI uses diesel at a rate of 54.3 mpg on average, and gives off CO2 at 137g/km, and is available in both manual or automatic gearboxes. For our best Mercedes E-Class deals, just browse our special offers above. |
Mercedes E220 CDI
The C220 CDI is the next level diesel variant in the range, based on the same 2.2 litre engine as the E200, but with the turbo’s turned up a notch to give 170 bhp rather than the 136 of the low powered version. This helps the 0-60 time down to 8.6 seconds and the top speed up to 143 miles an hour. The C220 is a BlueEfficiency engine, so has been tweaked for optimum emissions and fuel economy, so despite the extra power, fuel economy and emissions are almost identical to the E200, with excellent average fuel consumption of 53.3 mpg – great for this size car, and really low CO2 figures of 139 g/km. Mercedes E250 CDI
The Mercedes E250 CDI diesel is based on the same 2.2 litre engine as the E200 and E220, but with twin turbos, giving a whopping 204 bhp 0-60 in just 7.7 seconds and on to a top speed of 149 mph. Neither of these hurt the fuel economy much, with consumption at 53.3 mpg on average, and CO2 figures of 139g/km, meaning the E250 can proudly wear the BlueEfficiency badge once again. For a cheap Mercedes E Class just have a look at our savings on this model above. |

Mercedes E250 CGI
The Mercedes E250 CGI is the Petrol version – make sure you recognise the difference between the CDI and CGI. This version has an automatic gearbox as standard, manual is not available. The car uses a highly tune 1.8 litre petrol engine, giving 204 horsepower, enough for a top speed of 148 mph and a 0-60 time of 7.5 seconds. Both of these figures are very similar to the E250 Diesel version, but where the petrol loses out is on the fuel economy, which is a still very reasonable 37.2 with CO2 emissions of 179, putting the car in a higher tax bracket than its diesel brother. |
Mercedes E350 CDI
The Mercedes E350 CDI Diesel is the largest of the diesel engines available, and again comes with an automatic gearbox as standard. It is a 3 litre V6 engine with 231 horsepower, a 0-60 of 6.8 seconds and a limited top speed of 155 mph. These figures look very similar to the E250, and indeed they are, but the fuel consumption figures do drop a little to 40.1 mpg and CO2 increases to 181 g/km, making the E250 CDI look the cheaper and better option as a company car. |
Mercedes E350 CGI
The Mercedes E350 CGI uses a 3.5 litre V6 petrol engine, tuned to give 292 bhp, which propels the car briskly from 0-60 in just 6.8 seconds and is limited to 155mph. the 350 Petrol is a rare car in the UK, with most buyers option for the diesel due to the better fuel consumption and lower CO2. This does not mean that it’s a bad car, purely that company car tax and fuel costs force most buyers down the diesel route. |
Mercedes E500
The Mercedes E500 is an even rarer sight in the UK these days, using a great big 5.5 litre V8 producing 288 horsepower, it is a creamy smooth motor to use, giving a huge amount of torque from low revs, but again, it’s well behind the diesel on the fuel consumption, and costs significantly more, making it more likely to be bought as a private purchase rather than as a company car. It comes as auto only, and purely in the higher spec Elegance and Sport trims. It is currently the most powerful E Class until the E63 AMG is launched. |
E Class SE SpecificationThe Mercedes E-Class is split into 3 different spec levels that keep the same standard equipment, pretty much regardless of engine size, making deciding your ideal model easier. The SE Specification gets all this as standard: 16” Alloy wheels, comfort suspension, parktronic parking aid, rain sensing wipers, Electric heated front seats, multifunction steering wheel with trip computer, front and rear centre armrest, two zone climate control, space saver spare wheel, aluminium trim in the cabin, Artico artificial leather seats, attention assist, isofix seat mountings, ESP with skid control, outside temperature display, tyre pressure warning system, single CD with 8 speakers, 5.8” colour display, Aux-in socket for an MP3 player and Bluetooth interface. |
E Class Elegance SpecificationThe Avantgarde trim is the next step up and is the mid level spec for the E Class. Over and above the SE, you get the following standard equipment: larger 17” Alloy Wheels, lowered air suspension, Bi-Xenon headlights, chrome exterior trim, power folding mirrors, Black Ash wood trim in the cabin, and real leather seats. Larger engine sizes also get the steering wheel paddle-shift controls. |
E Class Sport SpecificationThe Sport spec is the top spec in the range and gives you these extras on top of the Avantgarde specification: 18” AMG Alloy wheels, upgraded brakes, AMG body styling, sports steering wheel, 1/2 leather sports seats, AMG floor mats, and a brushed aluminium cabin trim. |

Mercedes E Class CoupeThe Mercedes E Class Coupe was launched shortly after the saloon version and shares the same platform and has very similar driving characteristics. It takes over from the successful but slightly smaller CLK model as the main coupe in the range. Mercedes currently only offers the coupe in 2 specs, the SE and the Sport, and the smaller engines are not offered, with the 250 CDI and 250 CGI being the starting points, other than that the specifications are very similar to the Saloon’s as listed above. |
Mercedes E Class EstateThe Mercedes E Class Estate has just been announced and pictures revealed of the good looking tourer. It is likely to command a premium over the saloon but is also expected that the Estate will be available in the same specifications and engine sizes. as soon as we have prices for the estate, we will publish them here for you. |
