Renault Grand Modus 2012

The new 1.2 is the lowest priced and cheapest car in the range. the engine produces 75 horsepower, which is just about enough for round town driving, but will struggle a little if fully laden on the motorway. Top speed just edges over 100 mph , with fuel economy at 47.8 mpg combined and CO2 levels at the 140 g/km mark. there is also a turbocharged version of this engine, the Grand Modus 1.2 TCE, which is a marked step up in performance, with 100 horsepower a top speed of 113 mph, and a welcome improvement in acceleration yet the fuel economy and CO2 figures stay the same as the non turbo version, making it the one to go for if you can afford it

The new Renault Grand Modus 1.5 DCi diesel is the only diesel available in the range, but with 86 horsepower and a good chunk of mid range torque, it suits the car well for everyday driving. fuel economy is brilliant as you would expect, with a combined figure of 62.8 mpg and CO2 at 119 g/km, making the diesel version by far the biggest seller in the range, and if it were our money, this is the one we would go for.

The 1.6 Petrol engine is your only choice if you would like a conventional automatic gearbox in your Grand Modus – the Auto box comes as standard in the 1.6 as no manual version is available. It has 111 bhp and a top speed of 114 miles per hour, but suffers greatly on fuel economy when compared to the diesel giving 37.1 mpg and CO2 levels of 179 g/km making it a fair but more expensive to run. the 1.6 petrol is only available in the dynamique spec.
