The New Toyota Yaris is a compact family hatchback in the super mini class, with rivals such as the Ford Fiesta and the Volkswagen Polo. Specification

The 1.0 VVT-i is the smaller of the 2 petrol engines available in the range. It is a 1 litre 3 cylinder petrol unit that produces a healthy 69 horsepower. This is enough for a 0-60 time of 15.7 seconds and a top speed of 96 mph, which feels nippy enough round town but gets a bit breathless above 80 mph on motorways. Being such a small engine the fuel economy is good at 56.5 mpg on average, and a CO2 rating of 118g/km. The 1.33 VVT-i is the larger of the 2 petrol engines available. It is (as the name suggests) a 1.33 litre 4 cylinder motor that produces a more than reasonable 101 bhp which propels the car to a 0 to 60 time of 11.7 seconds and a top speed of 109 mph. Fuel economy is at the 55.4 mpg mark, with CO2 levels at 119 g/km. The 1.33 engine is the better choice of petrols if many of your journeys are out of town.

The 1.4 D4-D is the only diesel version available in the range. it has 90bhp, and is a nice quite motor to use, giving a top speed of 109 mph, and a great fuel economy figure of 68.9 mpg on average. CO2 is also low at 109 g/km meaning just £35 a year road tax. the 1.4 diesel prices are the highest in the range but residual values are also the best.

Toyota Yaris T2

The Yaris is offered with a choice of 3 different spec levels. the entry level spec is the T2, which has as standard equipment: CD Radio with 4 speakers, ABS, Brake Assist, colour keyed front bumper, trip computer, outside temperature display, aluminium effect dashboard trim, alarm immobiliser, split fold rear seats, sliding and reclining rear seats to increase boot volume, passenger under seat storage, electric front windows, 15” steel wheels with a space saver spare, and a 3 yr 60,000 mile warranty.
