Vauxhall Agila 2012

The new 1.4 litre petrol engine is the smallest and has the lowest prices in the range, but still has a little zing in it, and is fun to rev. The engine has 65 horsepower, which is enough in city traffic but a little underpowered for the motorway, which shouldn’t really be a problem as the car is designed mainly for town use and commuting. It’s 0-60 time is 14.7 seconds and top speed of 99 miles per hour. fuel consumption is good for a petrol engine at 56.5 mpg and CO2 at 119 keeps it at £35 a year for road tax, although it could really do with being under the 100 mark. If you’re looking for a little more go, then consider either the diesel or the 1.2 petrol engines below.

The 1.2 petrol engine is a 4 cylinder 16 valve unit and it gives the car plenty of acceleration for real world conditions, and is the only model available with an automatic gearbox as an option. The 1.2 engine gives 85 horsepower, which is good for an engine of this size and has a top speed of 109 miles per hour. fuel economy figures show 51.4 mpg on the combined run, and CO2 figures of 129 g/km.

The Agila 1.3 CDTi is the only diesel available in the limited engine range, but gives a useful 75 horsepower and a top speed of 103 mph. The engine packs enough grunt for a car of this size and with a combined fuel economy figure of 62.8 and CO2 emissions of 120 g/km it is the most economical of the Agila models, but is pricier than the equivalent petrol engines.

Vauxhall Agila Ecoflex

The 2012 Vauxhall Agila Ecoflex is the name given to the most fuel efficient models in the range and also the most environmentally friendly with the lowest CO2 ratings, meaning the cheapest to run and the lowest road tax.
