Specification

The new 1.0 litre petrol engine is the smallest and has the lowest prices in the range, but still has a good deal of zing in it. The engine is a 12 valve 3 cylinder petrol unit with just 65 horsepower but still manages to give the car some get up and go, whilst producing an average of 56.5 miles per gallon combined, and kicking out just 117 g/km of CO2. The 1.0i engine is available in the ecoflex energy and ecoflex s trim levels.

The new 1.2 petrol engine is a 4 cylinder 16 valve unit, available as a manual or with the companies easytronic gearbox, which is a Continuously Variable CVT automatic gearbox. It has 85 horsepower, meaning plenty of real world performance for most people in a car of this size and weight. The fuel economy figure is just under the 1 litre petrol model at 53.3 mpg, and CO2 is just higher at 124 g/km.

The new 1.3 CDTi Diesel is the smaller of 2 diesel engines on offer, but still manages a very decent performance, giving a choice of either 75, 90 or 95 horsepower and a 0 to 60 time of 13.6 seconds (75) or 11.9 seconds for the 90 horsepower version, and a top speed just a shade over 100 mph up to 17 on the 90 bhp model. This is backed by some great fuel consumption figures – 62.8 mpg is good and the CO2 figure of only 119 g/km is pretty low as well. however with a little more cash the option to go for is the all new 95 horsepower model – you can spot it in our listings with [95] written in the description – this one is truly excellent, having better performance than the 90 model and even better fuel economy and emissions 76.3 mpg and just 98 g/km of CO2 means incredibly cheap motoring, and no road tax or congestion charge either. This is definitely the Corsa to buy if you are looking for cheap prices on your monthly motoring bills.

The 1.4 petrol is the larger of the 2 standard petrol engines before you get to the 1.6 turbo VXR models. It has 100 horsepower giving plenty of acceleration when needed in such a small light car. Fuel economy is still rather good at 51.4 miles per gallon, and CO2 is similarly low at 129 g/km, which is not bad but beaten by the diesel model. The 1.4 corsa is also available with both a manual and a conventional automatic gearbox too, and comes in Exclusiv, SE, SRi and SXi specifications.

The new 1.7 CDTi diesel is the the most powerful diesel engine available and comes either with 125, or the more recent 130 horsepower version. The 130 is the one to go for a fuel economy is identical but the CO2 emissions have been lowered from 130 g/km to 118 g/km moving down a road tax bracket to just £35 a year. Both models have plenty of power, and have all the in gear torque you need for effortless acceleration both for overtaking and on the motorway, although price means the 1.3 diesel outsells the 1.7 by a wide margin.

Vauxhall Corsa Ecoflex

The Vauxhall Corsa Ecoflex is the name given to the most fuel efficient models in the range and also the most environmentally friendly with the lowest CO2 ratings, meaning the cheapest to run and the lowest road tax.
