VW Eos 1.4 TSI
The entry into the VW Eos 2012 range is the new 1.4 TSI petrol engine which replaced the outdated 1.6 litre. the new 1.4 is smoother, quieter, but also more powerful and has much better fuel economy than the older 1.6, and is a great engine choice. It is available in 2 forms, either a 122 bhp or a higher powered 160 bhp version. The 122 bhp motor gives a spritley performance and returns mid 40’s mpg which will be more than enough for most people, whilst the 160 has real go, and suffers very little drop in mpg for the power gain. |

VW Eos 2.0 TSI
The Eos 2.0 TSI Engine is taken from the Golf GTI, and has a full 200 bhp to play with, so whilst the folding roof means the car is heavier than the equivalent golf, the straight line performance is right up there. Pushing the car will See fuel economy drop, but average driving will get you mid 30’s mpg. The Eos 2.0 is also available with the lovely DSG gearbox unlike the 1.4, so if you’re looking for automatic in a petrol engine, this is the way to go. The 2.0 is only available in higher spec Sport or Individual trims, so expect ot pay a premium. |

VW Eos 2.0 TDI Diesel
The 2012 VW Eos 2.0 TDI has the new 140 bhp common rail diesel engine from the rest of the VW range fitted, and is one of a growing number of diesel convertibles. Thankfully this new engine is refined and quiet, lacking the rattly noises of diesels from a few ears ago, so it can still be enjoyed with the roof down without it sounding like a tractor or drowning you in black smoke. It will also return close to 50 mpg in daily use, so makes a very practical and stylish proposition. |

VW Eos ConvertibleThe 2012 VW Eos Convertible roof is the main selling point on the Eos, and has been an indirect replacement for the Golf convertible. Thankfully with Volkswagen’s levels of reliability, there have been very few problems in relation to the roof, which has been a well known weak spot in some other manufacturers cars, with some customers of 307CC and Megane reporting the roof stalling half way through raising or lowering, and the much publicised issues with water leaks the Ford Focus CC. |
