New VW Scirocco Deals and Discount Prices

New VW Scirocco

The New VW Scirocco is a stunning looking remake of the classic 70’s and 80’s coupe. Based on the Golf GTI chassis, the car is lower and wider than the Golf. The shape is gorgeous, with aggressive proportions, and large haunches above the rear wheel arches in proper sports car style, and has been likened to Darth Vaders helmet, especially in Black. Although it is a coupe, Interior space for driver and front passenger is very good, and the roof line doesn’t swoop down too much at the rear giving decent headroom and legroom in the back. It is worth noting that the rear seats are 2 individual bucket seats rather than a bench, so it’s strictly a 4 seater at most. The car has been praised for its handling in the press, being even more composed through a bend than the GTI, making it one of the best handling front wheel drive cars available today, and one with very few natural rivals. The Scirocco is expected to take all of the sales that would otherwise have been for the Golf GTI, as the Golf has just been face-lifted and a new GTI model isn’t expected until late 2009. Dealers are currently only being given small allocations of the model, so big discounts are harder to find.

VW Scirocco 1.4 TSI

The VW Scirocco 1.4 TSI is the newest engine addition to the range. With customer deliveries from January 2009, the Scirocco 1.4 TSI engine is a twin turbo / supercharged affair that produces a huge 160 bhp from its small capacity, and yet still manages to return an official combined average fuel economy figure of 42.8 mpg. This is more than good enough to propel the car from 0 to 60 in under 8 seconds, and is nicely suited to the chassis. The 1.4 is the entry to the range, and starts at £18,790 on the road, but does not come with the GT pack as standard.

VW Scirocco 2.0 TDI Diesel

The VW Scirocco 2.0 TDI diesel is new to the range and again was launched in January 2009. The motor kicks out 140 bhp, and has a punchy mid-range perfect for motorway overtaking, whilst returning a great 55.4 mpg on the combined cycle, making it easily the most economical model. The diesel is available in either manual or the much praised DSG automatic gearbox, and can be specced with or without the GT pack.

VW Scirocco 2.0 TSI

The VW Scirocco 2.0 TSI engine is the 200 bhp unit directly from the Golf GTI Mk5, and it feels it. Beautifully refined and effortlessly quick, the motor really does get the best of the balanced chassis, and enables some serious speed to be built up. It still returns a respectable 37 mpg, but if you’re looking for economy, the diesel is the way to go. The Scirocco 2.0 TSI was the only model available from launch, and is the most fun to drive, matching and beating the Golf GTI in every aspect. Manual or DSG automatics are available, and the only trim level is the GT spec.

VW Scirocco GT

The VW Scirocco GT spec is the higher of the 2 trim levels available. The basic trim gives you 17” alloy wheels, Adaptive chassis control, air conditioning, remote central locking with alarm, cloth sport seats, automatic headlights, electric windows, front armrest, ipod connection, multifunction computer, rain sensing wipers, auto dimming rear view mirror, 6 CD changer, aux in socket for MP3 players, split folding seats and a space saver spare wheel. The Scirocco GT spec gives these as extra: Upgraded 18” Interlagos alloy wheels, window tints, 2 zone climate control, front foglights, highline trip computer, and a multifunction steering wheel.

Volkswagen Scirocco Colours

Colours available on the new Scirocco are: Opal Silver, Pewter Grey, Reflex Silver, Rising Blue, Shadow Blue, Sumatra, Viper Green, Candy White, Salsa Red and Deep Black.

VW Scirocco Prices

VW Scirocco prices have been pitched very aggressively by the manufacturer, starting from only £18,790 up to £20,940 for the 2.0 TSI manual, which is almost identical to the Golf GTI, and I know which I’d rather have… The DSG box is an extra £1350 on either of the 2.0 models.
