If you fancy a bit more power than any of the 2.0 litre engines can give you, then the other option (and a good one) is the Audi Q5 3.0 litre diesel engine, which gives you not only a good 240 horsepower, but a massive slug of mid range usable torque, meaning an instant push in the back whenever you press the throttle. This gives a golf GTI rivalling 0-60 time of 6.5 seconds and a top speed of 139 miles per hour. In use the engine is fantastic, linked to a standard dual clutch automatic gearbox with optional paddle shift, which is almost seamless in its gear-changes. Being a diesel, the engine still returns a good performance in the fuel economy stakes, the 3.0 litre returning an excellent 37.6 miles per gallon. The Q5 3.0 is a more expensive option but is a good choice if you can afford the extra over the 2.0 litre.
