The Polo was the first car that Volkswagen launched the Bluemotion line from, and it’s still one of the most economical cars on the road today. The 2012 VW Polo Bluemotion is based on the 1.2 diesel engine, but the whole car is tweaked to give the best fuel economy and lowest CO2 figures. This is done by changes in engine management, longer gearing that means the car is cruising at lower revs on the motorway, start-stop technology to shut the engine down at traffic lights, low rolling resistance tyres and aerodynamic changes to reduce drag.
