Volkswagen calls all of its current diesel engines TDI (standing for Turbo Diesel Injection) and in the VW Polo TDI 2012 range there are a few different options for you. Starting with the smallest first, there’s a 1.2 TDI diesel available only in SE spec currently, giving 75 horsepower, a top speed of 105 mph and a 0-60 time of 13.9 seconds. It has a great fuel economy figure of 72.4 miles per gallon – bettered only by the bluemotion version. The second option in the 1.6 TDI diesel that has 90 horsepower and a fair bit more torque, improving the performance, particularly the mid range acceleration, and dropping fuel economy only a little to 65.7 mpg on average.
