VW Golf TDI Diesel

Volkswagen calls all of its current diesel engines TDI (standing for Turbo Diesel Injection) and in the VW Golf TDI 2013 range there are a few different options for you. Starting in size from the 1.6 litre engine the best seller in the range (which has taken over from the old 1.9 litre diesel) and has an identical 105 horsepower to the old one despite its smaller capacity. This is enough for a 0-60 time of 11.3 seconds, a top speed of 117 mph and a great fuel economy figure of 62.8 mpg. CO2 figures are pretty low at 119 g/km, and these figures both improve still further if you look at the bluemotion version, which has the same performance but is tweaked to be even more economical. Next up there is the 2.0 litre TDI engine which you can get in either 140 horsepower in either the match spec or GT, having a 0-60 time if 9.3 seconds and a top speed of 130 mph, with fuel economy figs at 548.9 mpg and CO2 at 126 g/km. again there’s a bluemotion version that improves on this. finally there’s the GTD model which takes the 2.0 litre up to 170 horsepower and fits it into the chassis from the Golf GTI to give improved handling.
