BMW relaunched the newest version of its 3 series hybrid model the 330e in 2019, it shares the same recipe as the older version - the well-known 2.0 litre turbocharged petrol engine as seen in the 320i model combined with an electric motor that add an extra 67 horsepower in normal use or 111 bhp in overboost mode, to give a combined 289 bhp for some really rapid acceleration when needed.
As a plug-in hybrid, the 330e is really designed for those with a daily commute in slower traffic of around 15-20 miles each way, or for those doing miles in congestion charge zones, as it uses a 12kWh battery for an official electric only range of 41 miles but you do need to be able to plug in and recharge it at home nightly or whilst at work to see any sort of benefit. If your daily journey consists mainly of motorway mileage at faster speeds then the diesel version will be a much more fuel efficient model for you. Overall the 330e hybrid is well worth considering if it fits in with your daily lifestyle but also worth seeing if the fuel saving is worth the extra outlay over the 320i or 320d models.
