The BMW 320d diesel model has a four cylinder 2.0 Litre diesel engine, and is available in either Saloon, Touring or Gran Turismo (GT) chassis types. Each version can be finished in a choice of four trims: SE, Sport, Luxury and M Sport. In Saloon form with SE trim, the 320d diesel has a recommended price of just less than £29,500, while the Touring estate version costs £1,300 more, and the Gran Turismo almost £3,000 more.
The 2018 320d might have a price tag that is around £2,000 higher than that of the equivalent petrol model, the 320i, but it is worth taking into account the likelihood of the diesel having a much higher resale value after three years, as well as the fact that the diesel offers slightly quicker acceleration. Ultimately, the decision to choose either the 320i or 320d models will come down to personal preference, since both models deliver the excellent performance, flexibility and premium quality you would expect from the BMW 3 Series.
There is also a special edition version of the 320d model which incorporates EfficientDynamics technology to its maximum potential. This car has emissions of only 109g/km, with remarkable fuel economy as high as 69mpg. The BMW 320d EfficientDynamics delivers marginally lower output (160hp as opposed to 180hp) and is fitted with smaller alloy wheels than the standard 320d, but its performance and speed is still highly impressive, and it will appeal to business drivers due to the low BIK tax rate and VED band.
