The all new BMW 2 Series is a car that's become a huge seller in the small executive car segment, producing what is easily the best looking BMW for a generation. Taking over from the previous model 1 series coupe and convertible and leaving the 1 series name purely to the hatchback models, the 2 series range is diverse and all about lifestyle. There is the stylish Coupe and Convertible models but also the Active Tourer small MPV to compete with the Mercedes B Class, and the Gran Tourer, which is a stretched 7 seat version of the Active tourer, and to top it off the newly alunched Gran Coupe which is a stretched 4 door coupe in the same mould as the Gran Coupe models seen in the 4 Series and 8 Series ranges. While they are on a broadly similar floor pan, the difference is so diverse it's quite surprising BMW used the same model designation.

Most of the 2021 BMW 2 series engines are engines are shared with its 1 series sister, giving a huge range of petrol and diesels to choose from, all the way from the super economical 216d up to the M Division Tuned M235i, and with the big brother 3 series constantly growing in both size and price, the 2 Series effortlessly provides those wanting the famous BMW styling in a sensibly sized and priced package. There aren't many natural rivals for the 2 Series coupe and convertible, possibly the Audi TT but that competes more against the Z4 for sales, and possibly the Mercedes CLA but again that's a 4 seater rather than a coupe, so the car had the niche pretty much to itself in terms of both price and size.
