Hyundai has launched the New Kona into the fastest growing and most hotly contested markets - that of the small SUV. Made popular by the Nissan Juke and now the segment is full of rivals - Seat Arona, Kia Stonic, Ford Ecosport, Peugeot 2008, Renault Captur to name but a few. Thankfully Hyundai has raised it's game and the Kona is a strong effort that fits the brief perfectly. There's a good choice of engines from a 1.0 litre turbo petrol engine with 120bhp to a 1.6 turbo petro with 177 horsepower, four wheel drive and a seven speed dual clutch automatic gearbox. 2 diesel engines at 116 bhp and 134 bhp and a fully electric model arrived shortly after launch. We expect the 1.0 litre petrol to be the big seller - it's affordable and has plenty of zing, nippy enough around town and not embarrassed at higher speeds it suits the car perfectly.
The Kona has the all important standout styling - in this sector you can't afford to be bland or derivative, and four different spec levels - S, SE Premium and Premium SE, and to really set off the car's looks a contrast roof is available on Premium spec models. Prices are incredibly keen for what you get, equipment levels are strong, with large touchscreen mutimedia displays and a host of connectivity features, and it's backed by Hyundai's fantastic 5 year warranty. The Kona is for sale in the following colours: Velvet Dune, Tangerine Orange, Phantom Black, Chalk White, Dark Night, Lake Silver, Acid Yellow, Pulse Red and Blue Lagoon.
