The New Jaguar XE 2021 model marks a landmark point in the brand's history with the company finally having both the money, the engineering expertise and the design skills to produce a truly world beating car in this class. Yes the X-Type has been here before, based on the Ford Mondeo, but it's traditional almost twee styling insisted on by Jaguar top brass at the time hampered its desirability and really limited the number of customers interested in in. The XE is VERY different. Firstly it's not based on any other vehicle, this is a ground-up fresh design done purely in house on an all new chassis that is over 75% aluminium - much more than anything else in its class, and giving the car extreme lightness but also meaning no rust! The styling has been handled by the world class team under Ian Callum ang Julian Thompson, responsible for the great looking XF and also the F-Type, one of the best looking cars in the world, and the technology behind the new range of engines means the are some of the most advanced and fuel efficient on the planet in this class, which as it competes with the usual trio of German rivals in the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series and Mercedes C-Class is important that it stays ahead of the competition.

The XE range starts with the 2.0 litre petrol engines giving 250 or 300 horsepower, but by far the expected biggest sellers in the line up are the diesel engines, currently available as a 180 horsepower 4 cylinder turbo. Jaguar refers to these models as the Ingenium range, and they have been designed to be as efficient as possible with class leading CO2 levels, vitally important in the compact executive class. Orangewheels have the full selection of models listed here, from the Standard specification S, The mid range SE or the luxury spec HSE models, all of which can be upgraded with the R Dynamic trim which is effectively like a sports bodykit, redesigning the front and rear bumpers, and getting upgraded alloy wheels and sports interior. This, combined with the higher residual values that the diesels command over the equivalent petrol models make the XE Diesel the best deal, and making the XE's monthly leasing paments generally cheaper due to the higher guaranteed future values.
