With every generation the 911 just keeps getting better and better, both as a sports car and as something you can use every day. The range starts with the Carrera 2 - rear wheel drive (but now with the same wide body as the 4 wheel drive versions) it's the purest form available, capable of fantastic handling and the daily commute, with styling that has evolved to look more beautiful with every new incarnation. Despite purist worries that including turbocharging would blunt the car, the new 3.0 litre turbo engine gives 385 bhp and is a joy to use, still as responsive as ever and now with much more mid-range torque for instant acceleration without having to change down several gears and rev it to 6000 rpm. 0-60 times are around 4.2 seconds and a top speed of 182 mph.
Stepping up, next in the range is the Carrera 4, with 4 wheel drive as standard it has all weather ability that is understandably much sought after in this country if you aren't going to leave your pride and joy languishing in the garage for months a year. If you need more power then there is the 911 S model - available in either the 2 or 4 wheel drive, which ramps up the power of the same 3.0 engine to output 450 bhp which is instantly noticeable and will cost around £10,000 more for the privilege. Occasionally Porsche gives us a GTS limited edition which takes the S and adds a whole host of extras off the options list that is well worth going for if available.
Topping off the line-up is the 911 Turbo and Turbo S, using a 3.8 litre engine to take power to a whopping 641 bhp in the Turbo S, giving a 0-60 time of just 2.7 seconds and a top speed of 205 mph. It's expensive but one of the fastest road-based cars you can buy. The GT3 is a sought after limited model that is designed for track use - lightweight and stripped out with options like a roll cage, it's great if you are going to do occasional track days in your new Porsche, though is very firm for road use and certainly not a car to commute in, but makes a great weekend toy. The new 911 is available to lease in the following colours: solid Black, White and Guards Red, Racing Yellow metallic, GT Silver, Jet black, Agate Grey, Night Blue, Carrara Blue, Dolomite Silver, Aventurine Green, Gentian Blue, Miami Blue, Carmin Red, Lava Orange, Crayon or Lizard Green.
