The new BMW 430i comes with a four cylinder 2.0 litre Turbo petrol engine, (gone are the daysa when a 330 or 430 used a 3.0 litre!) which scores highly in terms of both performance and efficiency. The 252 bhp engine allows the Coupe version to accelerate to 60mph in only 5.8 seconds with a manual transmission, while the fuel economy remains relatively high at around 46mpg. Even better efficiency can be obtained by selecting the optional eight-speed automatic transmission.

BMW has slimmed down the spec choices on the higher powered versions as no one picked the basic trims on these anyway, so all cars are now M Sport spec as standard.

Parents will be reassured by the inclusion of BMW’s range of Active Safety features, which are integrated into the 2019 430i models as standard. These include seven airbags, seatbelt pre-tensioners and Isofix car seat fittings, as well as optional active headrests, in a decentralised rapid response system. What’s more, the 4 Series Coupes, Convertibles and Gran Coupes also include the high performance Dynamic Stability Control system, giving greater traction and smooth suspension over rough surfaces.
