Instead of pursuing the diesel route for more fuel efficient engines, Ford has offered the Puma with a new Hybrid set up, called the mHEV. It isn't something you need to plug in or recharge overnight, it's what is known as a mild hybrid set up meaning it recovers a small amount of energy from the car during running and braking to put back into the propulsion at lower speeds when pulling away to make the car more efficient, and you drive it no differently to any usual petrol car. It's based around the popular 1.0 litre Ecoboost engine and means the car can claim under 100g/km of CO2 emissions, and will save you around 3 to 5 mph on average according to official figures when compared to the non-hybrid version, and cost you about £400 more.
