Despite the off road style appearances, not all versions of the CR-V are a true 4x4 with 4 wheel drive, Honda offers a 2 wheel drive version with the1.5 VTEC engine and also the 2.0 Hybrid engine to reduce CO2 levels and offer a more fuel efficient car in particular for those getting the vehicle as a company car this is important. However for the private buyer, the first 5 years road tax are the same regardless of CO2 levels and fuel economy hardly varies between the 2WD and the 4x4 model, so for the small increase in the monthly leasing price we'd recommend the 4 wheel drive if you can afford it for the extra peace of mind it brings during poor weather conditions, although we would also always recommend winter tyres when it gets colder as whilst 4WD will help you generate traction in the snow, the standard summer tyres won't help you brake or corner any better than a 2WD car, so you'll be just as likely to slide off the road. We've only listed the 4 wheel drive versions above, and across the site we've marked any 2 wheel drives as "2WD" to make sure there's no confusion.
