The D240 is the most powerful of the two 2.0 litre diesel engines, both derived from the same engine block, just using a higher output turbo meaning that fuel economy doesn't suffer too much for the extra power. As the name suggests the Velar D240 has got 240 horsepower, knocking the 0-60 down to just 7 seconds and increasing top speed to 135 mph, while 40 mile per gallon is a realistic fuel economy figure. The only real downside to the engine is the extra £3,000 that Land Rover charges over the already very good D180 version, though this is typically not much more on the monthly leasing cost.
