Mercedes-Benz currently offers several different Hybrid options for the new 2021 Mercedes C-Class, and that's likely to increase as their popularity soars as the tech is evolving quickly and battery ranges improve. Firstly there's the C300de which is a diesel electric plug-in hybrid combination, combining a 2.0 litre 4 cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that has 191 bhp by itself with an electric motor mounted in the gearbox that has 121 bhp, that car run separately or in tandem, and when both run together at lower speed the total power output is 302bhp making it feel really fast off the line with a 0-60 time of just 5.7 seconds. At lower speed the diesel engine switches off entirely (unless you mash the throttle) and with its decent battery size of 13.5kWh it'll run on electric power alone for around 30 miles. Also coming soon is the C250e which swaps out the 2.0 litre diesel engine for a 1.3 litre turbocharged petrol engine which is cheaper and more suited for those doing lower mileages. For both you really need to have the ability to recharge the car at home overnight to get the benefit out of the system, getting 30 miles range of incredibly cheap motoring every day or otherwise you may as well save yourself the money and buy the regular version. for the moment the C Class hybrid is restricted to the saloon and estate body styles as business use and low CO" figures for benefit in kind taxation are a huge draw, but we do expect to see Hybrids in the C class Coupe and Convertible soon.
