Mercedes-Benz has just introduced its first hybrid model into the new 2021 GLC UK model range, called the GLC 300e, it features similar tech to that seen on the C-Class sister car, a 2.0 litre turbocharged petrol engine with 210 horsepower is mated to an electric motor mounted in the gearbox that has 121 horsepower, and gives a total power output of 315 bhp. When both kick in it'll give you a rapid 0-60 time of just 5.7 seconds and has a top speed of 143mph, or 81mph in electric only mode. The GLC 300e is supplied with a bigger battery than in the C-class of 13.5kWh meaning the SUV can run for around 26 miles on electric charge only at lower speeds before the petrol engine kicks in. this gives fantastically low CO2 emissions of 51g/km, perfect for company car drivers. It's a plug in hybrid so can be recharged at home on a night easily, meaning if you do lots of shorter commutes in traffic at lower speeds in city centres and the occasional long journey then it will be perfect and you should have very low cost motoring. If you're a higher mileage user and do mainly fast motorway work, then the diesel will probably be more appropriate.
