Fuel & Gearbox
The new Pulsar is only offered with the optional Xtronic automatic gearbox in the 1.2 DiG-T petrol engine, fo some reason Nissan chooses not to fit it to either the diesel or the larger 1.6. At 55.4 mpg the Xtronic engine very nearly matches its manual transmission counterpart (56.5 mpg) in terms of fuel economy. This makes it a very economical car to run, particularly in the city where you’re likely to make the most of the car’s innovative start/stop technology which automatically turns off the engine whilst the car is stopped in traffic.
The cost of upgrading to the automatic is around £1,500 more than the equivalent manual model but regardless of whether you pick manual or auto this car will be an eco-friendly and economic choice which doesn’t sacrifice fuel economy for performance and a fun driving experience.
