Fuel & Gearbox
The 1.6 is the smaller of the two diesel engines offered in the new 2021 X-Trail range and the more affordable and more frugal. It produces 130 horsepower which is plenty for everyday use and official fuel economy figures are at around 55mpg. The engine itself is powerful enough for most tasks and will gobble up big mileages like any diesel, only really found wanting for fast lane cruising at 90+, rapid overtaking or towing, for any of these it's recommended you look at the larger 2.0 litre diesel version instead.
