Since Porsche decided to remove all diesel engines from its line-up following the dieselgate scandal a few years ago the brand has invested in Hybrid technology in a big way to replace it, and it's turning out to be a great decision! There are now two different hybrid models available in the new 2020 Porsche Cayenne range - firstly the standard hybrid model which uses the 3.0 litre engine found in the regular Cayenne and combines it with an electric motor to boost power to around 462 horsepower (up from 340) which gives a 0-60 time of just 5 seconds and top speed of 157 mph, plus an electric only range of around 20 miles, as long as you have the ability to plug in at home overnight.
Secondly there's the Turbo S Hybrid model which adds the same system to the Turbo engine giving a huge 670 horsepower and a frankly ridiculous amount of shove off the line, and with the same 20+ miles of electric only range, it's perfect for those who want a car t do everything - commuting at lower speed with zero emissions in town, yet with the power to swallow continents if you fancy a trip to the South of France! Both Cayenne Hybrids do cost more than their petrol equivalents on the monthly leasing price, but you have to consider the amount of fuel they may save you, and also the reduction in benefit in kind taxation if you're a company car driver. If you don’t mind the 300kg weight penalty and can recharge on a night they could save you significant money.
