Renault has upgraded its smallest petrol engine, the 900cc TCE model to a larger capacity 1.0 litre motor in the new Captur. Whilst that still sounds little for a car of this size, it does not give you 100 horsepower, and is available in the Play, Iconic and S Edition spec levels. the Captur 1.0 TCI is manual only, no automatic is available, 0-60 time is a relaxed 13.3 seconds with a top speed of 107 mph. It's not a car we would recommend for motorway fast lane travel, but it's perfect for those using it for round town work, commuting and picking the kiss up as a seconds car if you don’t need to regularly travel long distances, and going for the 1.0 litre does save you money over the 1.3, though for regular longer journeys we would suggest either the 1.5 diesel for high mileage users of the 1.3 TCE 155 for those looking for more overtaking ability.
