The big brother of the 1.5 dCi in the 2021 Scenic line up is the 1.7 diesel, which is a quite different engine to it's sibling - the 1.7 comes with 120 horsepower in this guise and has a fair bit more go about it with a strong wave of mid range torque for overtaking and it's more at home cruising in the fast lane. The downside is it's not quite as smooth in use than the 1.5 dCi and you notice it's vibrations a little more more, but you don't need to rev it as much to get up to speed quickly, just use the instant torque to waft about. So if you are doing higher mileages of 15 to 20,000 miles or more then need the extra fuel economy it's the one to go for, below that we would stik with the 1.3 TCE petrol.
