despite the off roader appearance, not all of the versions of the 2021 Seat Tarraco are 4 wheel drive as standard. To save both cost and weight (and therefore fuel economy and CO2 levels too) a lot of them are front wheel drive - all of the 1.5 TSI models are and some 2.0 TDI models. This isn’t actually so much of a bad thing as most people don't take their cars off road so don’t really need 4 wheel drive. It does however improve traction which means no wheelspinning off the line at a wet roundabout as it helps put power down to the tarmac more effectively. 4x4 also helps in poor weather conditions such as snow, but it only helps get you moving, it won’t help you corner or brake any better, so it's just as easy to slide off the road and damage the car. If your main concern with 4 wheel drive is the snow then a set of winter tyres might be a better investment, and often a front wheel drive car fitted with these can outperform a 4 wheel drive fitted with the usual summer tyres we use in the UK. To make it clear which are the front wheel drive and which are the 4 wheel drive models we have only included the 4WD above (go back to our main Tarraco page to find the rest of the line up) and you can spot them by the words 4DRIVE in the description.
