Despite the rugged off-road style appearance, the new 2021 Vauxhall Grandland X is predominantly a front wheel drive car, and none of the petrol or diesel engines are offered with a 4 wheel drive option currently. Thankfully as the Grandland shares it's platform and technology with the new Peugeot 3008 model then it gets to sharew all the advanced Hybrid tech, which does have 4 wheel drive as an option ns the more powerful of the two models, (it's hidden in the Hybrid4 name) as the petrol engine drives the front wheels along with one electric motor, and a second electric motor drives the rear wheels when active at lower speeds giving 4 wheel drive. The Hybrid4 is rather expensive both to buy or lease compared to other models through (even if it will give fantastic fuel economy), and it's worth noting that if you're mainly looking for a 4WD model to get you through the poor weather than a set of winter tyres fitted to a front wheel drive car will probably has just as much of an effect if not more on the car's perforamnce in snow and ice, as a 4x4 system might help you get going off the line, but if the car is on the usual summer tyres we fit in the UK then it will not turn or brake any better so you'll be just as likely to slide off the road despite your expensive 4WD system!
