Okay, so Volvo's petrol engines don't quite make sense - the T3 engine is actually 2 different engine sizes that produce identical power, and which engine depends on whether you go for manual or automatic. The T3 manual versions use a 2.0 litre engine that produces 152 horsepower has a top speed of 130 mph and fuel economy figures of 50 mpg on the official combined cycle. Yet the T3 automatic uses a 1.5 litre petrol engine that produces and identical 152 horsepower, same top speed and 0-60 time and 1 mpg better on fuel economy. Why are they different? you'd have to ask Volvo! You can opt for your D2 engine in any of the different trim levels - Momentum, R-Design, Inscription or the Cross Country model, and for an additional £1,500 you can specify the optional Geartronic automatic transmission.
