The Nissan Pulsar 1.2 DiG-T Petrol engine offers excellent fuel economy without sacrificing power, making it the perfect urban run-around hatchback. The state-of-the-art all-turbo engine offers 115 horsepower. Its CO2 emission is 117 g/km, which places it in car tax band C; that means no tax to pay for the first 12 months and £30 per year thereafter.
The 1.2 DiG-T Petrol is available with a manual gearbox or Xtronic gearbox. The latter is Nissan’s automatic gearbox technology which is designed to offer a smoother climb up through the gears for a more fun driving experience. Although fuel consumption is incredibly similar for both types of gearbox, the manual comes out slightly better with 56.5 mpg compared to the Xtronic’s 55.4 mpg.
The Nissan Pulsar has innovative stop/start technology as standard across all models and engine types, which helps to save fuel when the engine is not in use. When stopped in traffic the engine automatically idles until the driver presses the accelerator to seamlessly pull away.
Since the DiG-T 115 is the smallest engine available with the Pulsar, it offers a cheaper starting price. On the basic Visia model the manual 1.2 DiG-T will cost under £16k, whilst the Xtronic is a little more expensive adding around £1300 to the price. With its excellent fuel economy and low cost in taxes, the Nissan Pulsar is a cost-effective family hatchback.
