Despite the chunky off-road appearance, it's well worth noting that all 2008 models are front wheel drive only. As this is a compact crossover based around the smaller 208 and Vauxhall Corsa platform it shares its engine range and drive train with them, so no option of a proper 2008 4x4 is likely to ever be available as the floor-pan isn’t designed to accept a driveshaft going to the rear wheels or have space for a rear differential - both essential for 4WD. If you really need better traction in poor conditions and are worried about sliding off the road in snow and ice then we would recommend instead looking at investing in some proper winter tyres. A lot of time a front wheel drive car with winter tyres on can easily out-perform a four wheel drive car with the usual summer tyres we get as standard in this country, as 4 wheel drive might get you going off the line, but won’t help you steer, turn or stop any better so you will still go sliding, winter tyres are a better solution!
